Twitter Stops UK SMS Sending :(

As of today (or yesterday?), Twitter has stopped delivering SMS text messages to it’s users via it’s UK number. I don’t know how much of the world that impacts, but as I’m in the UK, it’s hit me. I normally get DMs and replies (I think) by twitter, and it’ll be a pity to see it go.

That said, it’s understandable why they’ve done it, looking at what it costs them. To send 250 texts per month, it costs around $1000 per user per year, apparently.

If only UK Mobile Phone companies would agree to help twitter, as the American ones have, then this wouldn’t happen, but ultimately it seems that they don’t want to, and so we lose the service.
